2016-17 EGL Dhillon-Randhawa Scholarship Award
We are pleased to announce that current EGL undergraduate student Lingene Yang is the recipient of the Dhillon-Randhawa Family Educational Scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Originally from Belmont, MA, Lingene came to the University of Michigan in fall 2014 to study Computer & Data Science Engineering. Lingene is pursuing the International Minor for Engineers. He was admitted to EGL in Winter 2016.
Lingene participated in the South Africa VA trip in the summer of 2016, where he taught computers to kids. He enjoyed working with a team to develop lesson plans, while watching the students develop their skills. Lingene also works with M-Powered as a Co-Director. He helped create a project called “Take 36”, which is a 36-hour film making competition. Lingene was tasked with leading a group of members to get sponsorships, communicate with professors, and market the event to students. The event was held in January 2016, where over 100 people participated and created over 30 films in just 36 hours! Lingene also enjoys photography in his spare time.
