The Honors Seminar courses focus on a variety of topics, including community-building, leadership development, focus area-specific topics, showcase of opportunities available at the University of Michigan, peer mentoring, and developing an ePortfolio.
The Honors seminars are designed to help develop your education beyond technical knowledge by developing additional competencies of:
Creativity & Innovation
The ability to identify and characterize problems in the face of uncertainty and imperfect information, and to create new solutions.
A propensity for working in teams, including an understanding of the opportunities provided by diversity, and strong interpersonal skills.
Social & Environmental Responsibility
An understanding of human, social and environmental impacts of technologies, and the ethical tools to make sustainable and responsible decisions.
The ability to communicate professionally in any setting
The ability to interact effectively across cultures and around the globe, and to understand the role of culture in addressing technical challenges
The desire and capability to make a difference by championing and managing needed change, including effective goal-setting, persistence and an ability to manage risk.
Honors Seminars are 1 credit each, and must be taken in order. They are designed for you to take one each academic year, however, students applying after their sophomore year can take the courses their junior and senior year.

Mondays 3:30-5:30pm or 6:00-8:00pm (Winter) & Mondays 5:30-7:30pm (Fall) – meets every other week

Tuesdays 3:30-5:30pm or 6:00-8:00pm (Winter) & Tuesdays 3:30-5:30pm (Fall) – meets every other week

Mondays 5:00-8:00pm (meets five times) or two Mondays from 3:00-6:00pm and one Saturday 9:00am-6:00pm (Winter) & Mondays 5:00-8:00pm (Fall) – meets five times per semester
