About Honors

Program Elements
The College of Engineering Honors Program focuses on four areas of development:
Technical Excellence

Students must attain a 3.2 GPA by the time they graduate with their College of Engineering major

Intellectual Breadth
Complete nine credits of advanced electives in an identified focus area and select a minor in one of over 100 top-ranked U-M programs
Leadership Development
Participate in Honors seminar each year and engage in leadership development, community building, and discussion related to your focus area
Culminating Project
Build on foundational work from your Honors focus area by designing and completing a high-impact capstone project or thesis

Honors Degree

Students who complete the College of Engineering Honors Program will graduate “With Honors”. This notation will appear on your University of Michigan transcript and on your diploma.
