About EGL
Global Education
Students in the EGL specialization of the Michigan Engineering Honors Program complete the International Minor for Engineers.
Completing this minor enables EGL students to develop a better understanding of other cultures and the business and engineering implication of today’s global economy. Students earn 2nd year proficiency in another language and complete international coursework to broaden their education. Students will gain international experience first-hand through a 6-week study, work, research, or volunteer abroad trip.
Students interested in EGL should consider completing their international experience as early as possible, preferably the summer after their first year. We encourage students to start exploring study abroad opportunities as early as possibly.
You can learn more about the International Minor for Engineers through the International Programs in Engineering office. Make sure to schedule a meeting with an advisor in the International Programs in Engineering office to make your plan for this minor!
Students are also exposed to cultural education through the EGL Honor Society. The EGL Honor Society offers a Volunteer Abroad (VA) program yearly. These 1-2 week experiences in August before classes start expose participants to a new culture and place through volunteering.
