About EGL

Capstone Project

All students in the EGL specialization of the Michigan Engineering Honors Program engage in their capstone project through the Tauber Institute for Global Operations during the summer between their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. This project integrates engineering and business elements in addressing significant operational changes. 

Course Registration

  • When to Register: Winter term preceding the capstone project
  • Credits: 3 to 4 credit course

Project Details

  • Duration: 12-week program
  • Compensation: Paid team project
  • Focus: High-visibility operations-related challenges, combining engineering and business components
  • Outcome: Successful projects yield significant returns on investment for the sponsoring companies

Spotlight! Presentation
After completing the summer project, student teams return to Michigan to present thier work at the Spotlight! event. Industry judges evaluate the projects, and scholarships are awarded to the teams with the best project outcomes.
