Application Requirements

You can learn more below about the application requirements based on your current status with the University of Michigan.

High School Student

You will learn more about our program when you attend orientation the summer prior to your first semester here. The program requires two full-time semesters at the University of Michigan prior to applying to our program. However, there are some things you can focus on during your first two semesters prior to applying.

  • First-year academic success: We want you to do well in your first year at Michigan, so take advantage of the many resources available, including the Engineering Center for Academic Success, office hours, study groups, and focusing on your wellness
  • Exploring courses towards a minor: You can always pursue courses that will count towards a minor that you are interested in! Research different minors that sound interesting to you, and learn what courses are required for that minor.
  • Visit our walk-in peer advising hours in the Fall or Winter terms: Our Peer Advisors are always available to answer your questions about the Honors program! Feel free to visit them anytime Monday through Friday. They are available from 1:30pm to 4:30pm in 251 Chrysler Center.
  • Participate in the Honors Information Session in the Winter term: We hold a yearly information session for first-year students to learn more about the College of Engineering Honors Program. Attend the session to get your questions answered, meet current students in the program, and learn more about our vibrant community.
  • Prepare to apply at the end of your first year: Once you have completed two full-time semesters at the University of Michigan, it’s time to apply! Learn more about the application process here.
