About EGL

Capstone Project

All EGL specialization students in the Michigan Engineering Honors Program participate in their capstone project through the Tauber Institute for Global Operations during the summer between their Bachelors and Masters degree. Students register for this 3 to 4 credit course in the Winter term preceding their project.

This course is a guaranteed 12-week paid team project on a substantive issue. Team projects are highly visible operations-related challenges with both engineering and business components. A successful project results in a significant return on a sponsoring company’s investment.

Upon returning to Michigan after the summer project, student teams present at Spotlight!, where judges from industry evaluate the team’s work and award scholarship money to the best projects.
