EGL & Tauber Institute Scholarships

Opdyke Family Graduate Fellowship Recipients

2023-2024 EGL Opdyke Family Graduate Fellowship Award

We are pleased to announce that current EGL graduate student Paulina Rajski is the recipient of the Opdyke Family Graduate Fellowship Award for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Originally from Warren, Michigan, Paulina Rajski came to the University of Michigan in Fall 2019 to study Industrial & Operations Engineering. She was admitted to EGL in Fall 2020. Paulina is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Design Science.

Paulina’s involvement in EGL began during her first semester of sophomore year when she joined the EGL volleyball tournament. After that, she served as Community Chair in 2021, and was elected President for 2023. Paulina has enjoyed countless EGL memories, including ski trips, Chicago trips, Volunteer Abroad, and her Tauber internship.

Outside of EGL, Paulina had the opportunity to participate in BLUElab India where she traveled to Gujarat, India to validate stove projects. She also served as Co-Membership Chair with the Society of Women Engineers. She was part of The Michigan Daily Photo Team and SHEI Magazine Photo Teams. She was also an ENGR 110 DA for two years and an Honors peer advisor for 2.5 years. She studied abroad in La Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid. She also conducted research under Panos Paplambros for 3 years around modeling and optimizing social benefits for Integrated Conversation and Resource Development Projects.

As a first-generation low-income college student with a single mom, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree was challenging in itself. “Now pushing myself to obtain a Master’s degree has opened new opportunities and doors that I could not have ever imagined. The scholarship is allowing me to continue my studies at the best university in the world, and has tremendously decreased the financial stress and burden that college debt often puts on families.” Congratulations, Paulina!
